Sony Walkman SRF-M37W - Personal radio Review

The Sony SRF-M37V is a palm-sized Walkman type radio that requires headphones. It uses one AAA battery providing reasonable battery life. It is quite superior for AM listening and has become a favorite with hobby DXers. If you are trying to hear a distant talk show, this radio is a great choice. The FM section is average in both selectivity and sensitivity. Your headphone cord doubles as its FM antenna. You'll hear local stations but don't expect miracles. Weather band reception was an afterthought. Sony's engineers did not add narrowband circuitry appropriate for receiving weather band stations. By using the same broadband circuitry used for broadcast FM, you'll hear nearly all seven weather frequencies at once regardless of which channel you have chosen. Unless you are fairly close to a weather band transmitter, do not expect to hear anything on this band. The radio does include a time-of-day clock, but it can only be read when the unit is off. Finally, all the pushbuttons on the unit are quite sensitive and can be accidentally pressed especially the power on/off button. Learn to use the button lock-out switch on the top of the set. It will cure your aggravation. Instead of the SRF-M37V, I would highly recommend the very basic Sony SRF-59 all-analog Walkman radio. It's half the price, works just as well on AM and sounds better. The only thing you will lose is the convenient pushbutton presets offered on the SRF-M37V. Either way, you can't go wrong. Both Sony models are good values.

Sony MZ-N707 Net MD Walkman Player/Recorder (Black) Review

What I like about it : the complete packaging with all necessary cables, the rechargeable battery, the nice design, the remote control, the cheap price of minidiscs compared to MP3 players memory cards, the overall quality.
What I don't like so much : this thing cannot read MP3 files, these have to be translated to ATRAC3 files before being "checked out" to the player. This takes a lot of time and disk space, which is a pain. The result is good if you use 128 kbps MP3 files to start with, but from 96 kbps MP3 files, the resulting sound is dramatically downgraded and really horrible. As a consequence, I have to re-rip all my CDs to 128 kbps. The software is not so bad but very very slow. Many people complain it crashes or hangs too often, but I haven't had any problem under Windows 2000.
What I dislike about it : if you hope to use it as a digital recorder, you'll be very disappointed. I was able to record myself playing clarinet using an external mic, and this was fine, and very easy to do I must say. But then there is no means to export the result in a digital format. To generate an MP3 file from there, you must re-record the track using the headphones plug as line-out to the AUX input of your PC's sound card. With a significant loss of quality (and time). Really frustrating, a stupid software limitation...

Sony MD Walkman MZ-E300 - MiniDisc player Review

Pros: light; inexpensive; well-placed buttons are protected from scrapes by the protruding battery area; has a socket for headphone-cord remote (if you have one from another sony cd/md player).
Cons: doesn't play MDs recorded in LP2 or LP4 format; battery life (33hrs) isn't as long as pricier players; opening mechanism is somewhat flimsy plastic.
Overall I like this player, particularly for its great price and clean appearance.The battery life is long enough to hear 28 discs, so it shouldn't be a problem!I bought it for my mom to take on a trip and she had no problems with it.

Sony DEJ815 CD Walkman, Blue Review

I reckon, when it comes to portables, manufacturers like Sony have the following as their priority (listed in order of diminishingpriority):
#1. Good looking and light;2. Survive shocks;3. Longbattery life;4. Sound quality.
On the first 3, Sony achieved100%.
However on the last one, it's an embarrassment. The highestnon-clipping volume is too low, it'd midrange frequency response isunderemphasised. My 6-7 year old Technics portable sounds so much betterthan this new state-of-the-art player.
Don't bother connecting anythingbut cheap ear-buds to this unit.

Sony MZE60 Mini Disc Walkman (Player only) Review

This little player is remarkable in its ability to provide such extraordinary sound from a package barely larger than the MiniDisc itself.
The case is made of an extremely lightweight, but durable metal. The only plastic is the inline remote control and headphones. While most operational functions are duplicated on the backside of the player's case, you will want to keep the remote control handy since it contains the LCD status display.
Sony's Digital Mega Bass does a great job elevating the very deep bass without adding appreciable distortion. A slight rise in the higher frequencies is also noticeable.
I highly recommend this Sony MiniDisc player. Finally, the true replacement for old-school cassette tapes seems to be available for a price that doesn't break the bank.

Sony WMFX277 Digital AM/FM Stereo Cassette Walkman Review

I bought this Walkman for the sole reason of owning one for the first timethat came with TV tuner, and I was a little disappointed at what it had tooffer.But first let me get to its high points.The first great thingabout it is its 35 preset stations.That's amazing, with seven offered forTV, seven for AM, and 21 for FM.They're all very easy to set.Then ithas for tape two different types of settings, normal setting and Cr02/Metalsetting in case you have those kind of tapes.There's also a hold buttonthat comes in very handy to keep yourself from accidently turning on thewalkman and draining the battery.And there's the AVLS that lowers thevolume instantly when you change from tape from tuner, and the MEGABASS,which greatly enhances the bass, provided you have a good headphone system. It even comes with a leather case in which you place the walkman inside. The leather case comes with a belt clip on it, which was kind of strangesince it would have been better if the belt clip was on the Walkmaninstead.Now for the setbacks.The advertisement said the Walkman lastsaround 25 hours playback, but it feels more like 14 to 15 hours playbackbefore the batteries run dry.I guess it depends on the kind of batteryyou buy.Also the leather case is nice but it's an awful hassle if youdecide to switch or changeover tapes while the leather case is on.Youhave to unstrap it, unplug the headphone, pull it out and put in orchangeover the tape, then strap it and plug the headphone back in.A nicefeature would have been a zipper where the cassette opener was so that wayall you had to do was zip it open and zip it closed, but maybe they'll doit next time.And now for the TV tuner.It is nice to hear TV channelsnow on the Walkman, but only if you don't mind being able to hear oneclearly, and the rest really grainy.I have tried every possible position,but for some reason my Walkman only picks up one channel very well, but therest really bad or not at all.I don't know, but it sort of set me backbecause I bought the thing for the TV tuner in the first place.Butoverall it's still a nice Walkman, with four modes of entertainment that'llkeep you entertained in the long run, for a mid-average price.

Sony D-NE1 Ultra Slim ATRAC3/MP3/CD Walkman Review

I have been looking at the line of Sony Atrac/mp3 players here on Amazon, and I have noticed a curious thing. A person by the name of evilmicrowizard has posted the same review on all of them stating that they do not play mp3's. The problem is that they do, I have owned a sony atrac/mp3 player for over a month and it certainly does play mp3-cds.
I'm not going to try and guess his motives, but he is being very irresponsible and trying to hurt the sales of Sony cd players by lieing about them.
as for the cd player it is the best cd player I have ever owned. the battery life alone is a great reason to buy it. and unlike the cheap panasonic models it will actually resume from where you stopped, and it has new-fangled features like fast forward, which the panasonic mp3-cd players lack.

Sony D-EJ360 CD Walkman with CD-R/RW Playback Color: Silver Review

I received this product with no earphones eventhough it was mailed quickly.I did contact the vendor about the missing earphones but did not receive any after they said they would send some the next day.I have not gotten to use the product because of the missing earphones; however, the appearance of the probuct was pretty good.I can't say anything about the workings of this product because of not getting to use it yet.I can't say I was satisfied with this purchase or this vendor either.

Sony CD Walkman D-CJ506CK - CD / MP3 player - black, ice blue Review

If you are looking for a decent cd player and all your looking for is something to listen to your cds (burnt as well) it's an excellent player. My parents bought mine for me about 6 years ago and it works like new to this day. It shows the titles on the screen and lights up so you can see in the dark.

If you have a car kit it hooks up excellent. Just be sure to have the volume on the player turned all the way up otherwise it will sound wierd.

I never had issues with the headphones. They aren't the best in the world but they play decent. Plus I think the player puts out excellent sound quality anyway.

I know I'm just one reveiw right now but I've enjoyed owning this player and have every intentions of getting one for my husband this Christmas.

i've had this for over a week and it is awesome! it's g-protection system never skips, i've tried everything to make it skip but it's just impossible! the headset sounds excellent but not so good looking... but for a price like this it's excellent. the car adaptor sounds great, very handy for use in a car.
i would recommend this buy for anyone out there looking for a good cd player. two thumbs up!

Sony D-FJ003 CD Walkman with AM/FM Tuner (Black) Review

I wanted the reliability and quality of a Sony, and a CD player AND radio in one unit was very important to me, but I did not want to pay a lot as not too long ago I had purchased a Panasonic CD player/radio, and the CD player conked out on me pretty rapidly.This Walkman is durable (I have dropped it a few times, and the CD didn't even skip when dropped, and the unit still works wonderfully!).It is also relatively simple to operate.However, I do not like the buttons or display window much.The buttons are hard to press one-handed, and the display is hard to read most of the time. The buttons and display are located on the edge/circumference of the Walkman rather than on the nice, broad top, making it difficult to access them. NEVERTHELESS, if you want a quality Sony product at a good price and you aren't terribly bothered by button or display ergonomics (I am not), this is a Walkman for you.Great value for the money!

Sony DCC-E34CP Car Connecting Pack Review

This kit worked perfectly the first 2-3 times. Then the cassette adapter fritzed. To hear any sound at all, I had to turn up the volume full blast on both the CD player and the car cassette deck. Even then, highway speeds drowned out the sound. The sound was unbalanced between the speakers, coming out much more strongly from the right than the left. And the sound quality was horrible -- fuzzy, with a strong, deep, buzzy hum. I expected better of Sony. I bought a Maxell adapter and I have had no problems with it. Forget Sony and look elsewhere.
