I reckon, when it comes to portables, manufacturers like Sony have the following as their priority (listed in order of diminishingpriority):#1. Good looking and light;2. Survive shocks;3. Longbattery life;4. Sound quality.
On the first 3, Sony achieved100%.
However on the last one, it's an embarrassment. The highestnon-clipping volume is too low, it'd midrange frequency response isunderemphasised. My 6-7 year old Technics portable sounds so much betterthan this new state-of-the-art player.
Don't bother connecting anythingbut cheap ear-buds to this unit.
